Real Madrid CF

Madrid Club de Fútbol (Spanish pronunciation: [reˈal maˈðɾið ˈkluβ ðe ˈfutβol] Royal Madrid Football Club), commonly known as Real Madrid, is a professionalfootball club based in Madrid, Spain. It was founded in 1902 as Madrid Football Club and has traditionally worn a white home kit since. The word Real is Spanish for royal and was bestowed to the club by King Alfonso XIII in 1920 together with the royal crown in the emblem. The club established itself as a major force in both Spanish and European football during the 1950s.

The Best Club

Unlike most European football clubs, Real Madrid's members (socios) have owned and operated the club since its inception. The club is the richest football club in terms of annual revenue, generating €438.6 million in 2011 and the second most valuable, worth €1.4 billion. Real Madrid holds many long-standing rivalries, most notably El Clásico with FC Barcelona. The team has played its home matches in the 85,454-capacity Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in downtown Madrid since 1947.

Honours

It is one of three clubs to have never been relegated from the top flight of Spanish football, along with Athletic Bilbao and Barcelona. Domestically, Real Madrid has won a record 32 La Liga titles, 18 Copas del Rey, 8 Supercopas de España, 1 Copa Eva Duarte and 1 Copa de la Liga. Internationally it has won a record nineEuropean Cup/UEFA Champions League titles and a joint record three Intercontinental Cups, as well as two UEFA Cups, and one UEFA Super Cup.

The Legend

What Real Madrid fan does not remember Di Stefano, Hugo Sanchez and Zidane, just to mention 3 historical figures of the club? What can we say about Raul Gonzalez or the club’s newest star, Cristiano Ronaldo? These are elite players who have stood out from the rest for their technique and wonderful football ability. Let’s run through the history of some of the greatest players of the club who have amazed fans and won important awards during their career at Real Madrid.

The Stadium

The Santiago Bernabeu Stadium is set to become one of the most modern football venues in the planet. It's façade will be modified to feature a state-of-the-art design and the venue itself will have leisure facilites and restaurants integrated in its structure. President Florentino Perez described the ambitious project as "providing our stadium with an outer skin that will be a crowning architectural achievement. The Bernabeu has to become a unique stadium, the best in the world, and the crowning achievement of 21st Century stadium architrecture."

Nacho Profile

Despite his natural position being at the heart of the defence, Nacho is the jack of all trades. He acts intelligently in any position of the defence and always responds wherever he is supposed to be. He is known for his speed, levelheadedness and sureness in tackling. Despite his youth, he shows great maturity on the pitch. Moreover, he is able to get the ball played and has a good long pass.
Having been with the Whites for more than a decade makes him a man of the house who represents Real Madrid's values to perfection. He arrived at Alevín A in 2001 and, bit by bit, has moved up and up until reaching the first team. Mourinho has always believed in him. He took him to the USA for the pre-season and now he has given him the opportunity to form part of the first squad. International with the lower ranks of the Spanish national team.
Outside of sports, Nacho has a very busy life. He is finishing his studies at the National Institute of Physical Education, whilst combining that with the third year of a coaching qualification. Although football and studying are his two main commitments, Nacho enjoys the free time he has to be with his friends and family. Cinema is one of his great hobbies.
An important date for him is the 23rd of April 2011, when he played his début with the first team in Mestalla against Valencia. The Whites won 3-6 and Nacho was the first pick. During a great part of his career, he has shared changing rooms with his brother Álex, who plays for Castilla.

Luca Modric Profile

The main footballing attributes of Modric are his golden vision, his genuine goal threat and his great technical ability. From a very early age, he began to excel and when he was only 18 years old he was chosen as the best player in Bosnia’s Top flight when he played for Zrinjski. After this successful spell, another followed with Inter Zaprešić and the time came for him to star at Dinamo Zagreb. He won three league titles and two cups during his time as a player in Croatia. Confirmation that he was the great promise of his nation’s football came in 2007, when he was chosen as best Croatian central midfield player.
His fine performances continued in the Premier League, where he quickly became a benchmark player in the centre of the park in his first year at Tottenham. In the four seasons spent in the English top flight, he contributed 24 assists, which show his ability to pick a killer pass, and he scored 13 goals. He is an undisputed regular for the Croatian national team and has showcased his great talent at the highest level such as at the European Championship of 2008, where he was included in the best team of the tournament.
Modric began his love affair with football from a very young age. On account of the Balkan War, the Madrid player had to seek refuge with his family in a hotel on the island of Iz. He initially developed his footballing skills playing on these war-torn streets. That war defined the character of Modric and had a huge impact on his family. His father represented the Croatian army and his grandfather was killed in battle by a Serbian sniper.
During his spell in Bosnia as a footballer, he had to combine military service with his obligations as a player. Furthermore, the Balkan player marked a milestone in the history of his previous club, when he became the most expensive signing in the history of Tottenham.

Michael Essien Profile

When he signed for Chelsea in 2005, José Mourinho defined Essien as a "multifunctional" player. The Ghanaian international has a quality that stands out above everything else: his versatility. The new Real Madrid player has spent most of his career in midfield but has also played at right-back and in central defence.
After shining for Ghana u-17s in the 1999 New Zealand World Cup, Essien took the leap into European football in 2000 to when signing for Bastia. Two seasons were enough to dazzle one of the Europe’s big clubs and he signed for Olympique Lyon in 2002. Three years later he ended up at Chelsea. His physical power is remarkable and makes him a great midfielder, but apart from that Essien also has the ability to organise attacks and score goals.
His powerful stature has earned him the nickname of The Bison. The new Real Madrid player, who was described in the past by José Mourinho as an "athlete who can run for hours, a spectacular athlete", is a physical marvel. The Ghanaian will be coming to a coach who he already managed him at Chelsea for three seasons from 2005 to 2008.
For Essien football is not everything. The player is very committed to his country and to the living conditions there, especially of those most in need and of the children. Whenever he has the opportunity he participates in charity events.

Why Is Cristiano Ronaldo Sad At Real Madrid And Where Should He Go Next?

The recent news that the Portuguese winger Cristiano Ronaldo is ‘sad’ at Real Madrid has startled the world of football.
Though the reason behind this has not been released by the Spanish club or the player himself, and as all the major clubs get ready to capture the 27-year-old star, we have a look at the possible reasons why he should leave Los Blancos and what could be his possible destinations.

REASONS
Since being signed from Manchester United, Ronaldo has won only two major titles (Copa Del Rey and the La Liga) at Madrid, for a player with a habbit of biting the silverware that could be a reason to look into new avenues.
When he joined in 2009 he was the best player in the Premier League. In the La Liga he has been under constant comparison with Lionel Messi and usually has been overshadowed by the little magician of Barcelona and with the recent shift of star power back to the Premier League. A move to remain in the center of attention rather than its adjacent could be speculated for world’s most expensive player.
With more 3 years left on his contract at the end of which he would be 30 and probably unable to keep up his pace and agile game he may just end up on Los Blancos bench like many other Real Madrid stars which could become an issue of concern for him.

DESTINATIONS
Manchester United - With United and Ronaldo’s ex-boss and father figure Sir Alex Ferguson determined to conquer Europe once again before retirement, he would be eager to bring the former United star back, making United the most favourabale home for the Madrid hitman.
Manchester City - With the new-found riches and reports that the Blue half of Manchester may be preparing a huge offer for the former World Player of the Year. But with Ronaldo denying money as a problem and he would not be keen to upset Ferguson by joining the reigning Premier League champions. The move seems more and more faint but as we have seen before the money of the Sheikh owned clubs can be quiet convincing.
MLS - Another place which could be called his home in the future could be the United States. By doing so he would be following the footsteps of the legends such as Thierry Henry and David Beckham, who have shifted to the United States in the recent pas. In doing so, he will continue to earn a hefty sum in salary above that will have more time, considering Cristiano juniour being his complete responsibility very soon.

Is Cristiano Ronaldo Sad For Want Of More Money Or More Affection?

Sadness is no laughing matter but sympathy has nevertheless been in short supply since Cristiano Ronaldo revealed that he is unhappy at Real Madrid.
The Portuguese winger did, indeed, use the word 'sad' and that has not gone down well in Spain, especially outside Madrid, with the country in the midst of a recession with 4.6m people claiming unemployment benefits every month. The former Barcelona manager, Charly Rexach, did not hold back in his assessment of the Portuguese's comments, delivered on Sunday night, after he had scored twice in the win against Granada.
"If Cristiano is sad, people should go into the streets and cry," Rexach said. "Ronaldo can't ask for more from life. He's a top player, he has everything. He is physically fit, well-built, has money, success, is one of the best players in the world. I don't know what else he wants, so for him to be sad is sacrilege."
In Spain his comments have been scrutinised and analysed, as one would expect, and a few different theories have emerged.
1) Ronaldo does not think that he earns enough money and wants a pay rise.
2) He is unhappy that Andrés Iniesta was named Uefa's player of the year on Friday.
3) He feels undervalued at Real Madrid by the club and his team-mates.
Or perhaps he loves himself so much there is no room to feel it from anyone else.
Alvaro Arbeloa, meanwhile, has defended his Real team-mate, as he would, saying that the Portuguese is just in need of a little love. "He just needs more affection from everybody, I don't know, that's all we can give him," said the former Liverpool full-back, making it all seem so easy. "Everybody has the right to be sad, he's a person just like anyone else. He doesn't share the problems of most Spanish people but it's perfectly reasonable that he can be sad."
Arbeloa has a point, of course. Why shouldn't Cristiano Ronaldo be allowed to be sad? Anyone can be sad, rich or poor, famous or not. But when Ronaldo's agent, Jorge Mendes, then says that he knows the reasons CR7 is unhappy and that he is "perfectly comfortable" with them, then one starts to suspect that this is about money.
If Ronaldo really had wanted to leave Real Madrid, he would have expressed his "sadness" a few weeks earlier in order to be able to force a move somewhere else, although even Manchester City and Paris St-Germain are unlikely to be able to afford him if the reports of a £500m buy-out clause are true.
True, the French window does not shut until Wednesday night and the Turkish one not until Thursday night while the Russians and Zenit St Petersburg, in particular, seem to have spent all their money on Hulk and Axel Witsel, but why would the Portuguese want to leave for any of those leagues?
In addition he is unlikely to want to join PSG now – if it is unconditional love he is after –as on Tuesday the French club's sporting director, Leonardo, said: "Ibrahimovic is the best striker in the world. So why hire Ronaldo? Zlatan is unique. When we talk about the best players, there is Ronaldo and Messi – but they are not strikers. The best striker, that's Zlatan."
Messi, of course, was asked about it in Argentina before his country's game against Paraguay but he had no words of comfort, saying: "I don't have to answer this kind of questions. You shouldn't ask me about Cristiano. It has nothing to do with me and I shouldn't be answering questions about it."
Ronaldo, meanwhile, is now with the Portuguese squad for the games against Luxembourg on Friday and Azerbaijan next Tuesday. When he arrived at the team's training base at Obidos he muttered: "I am not going to say anything" but then a message filtered through to the media, saying: "Every problem has a solution."
So expect Cristiano Ronaldo to sort out his problems with Real Madrid and be happy again. The problem is that, if it turns out to have been a question of money, he will lose the respect of a significant portion of football fans around the world – and he was not exactly ahead of Messi anyway – because at the end of the day, if Ronaldo feels undervalued at Real, he may have a reason to be 'sad' but, if he is only after more money, then his comments are an insult to those who have a proper reason to be upset.

Alvaro Morata Profile

Alvaro Morata is a very complete striker. Fast in attack, skilled, able to go past players and he has a good character. A killer in the area and always amongst the top scorers in all of the teams he has played in. His quality, goal-scorer’s instinct and opportunism have helped him to keep his spot through the lower ages groups for Spain.
He arrived at Real Madrid in 2008 from Getafe to play in the u-18s C. He has since become one of the Factory’s most valuable products and had his debut with the first team in Zaragoza, 1, Real Madrid, 3, at the hands of José Mourinho. In his first season with Castilla he was the top scorer of the Second Division Group B. He led Spain to victory in the u-19 European Championships. This season he travelled to the United States with the first team.
Among Morata’s hobbies are reading and playing video games. Other sports he plays are golf and paddle tennis. He has the good fortune to be training regularly with his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo.
His quality, work and commitment have made him a fixture in the lower ages groups for Spain, with whom he became European u-19 Champion in Romania along with other Madrid academy players Dani Carvajal and Álex Fernández.
