La Liga
champions Real Madrid will host Valencia in the first match of the 2012/13 La Liga season while
new Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova starts his
reign at home to Real Sociedad after the fixtures were
announced.
Atletico Madrid travel to Valencia to face Levante while Europa League
and Spanish Cup runners-up Athletic Bilbao start at home to Real Betis
and Deportivo La Coruna, making their return to the top flight since their
relegation in the 2010/11 season, host Osasuna.
The 2012/13
season begins on August 18 and will run through to June 1. However, the final
dates of the season may of course be altered should Real Madrid,
Barcelona, Valencia or Malaga reach the latter stages of
the Champions League.
The first El
Clásico will be at the Camp Nou on October 7 while the return match will be played on March 3 at the
Santiago Bernabeu. The first Madrid Derby between Atletico Madrid
and arch-rivals Real Madrid is being played on December 2 at the
Bernabeu while Real Madrid travel to the Vicente Calderón on
April 24.
